A Radical Transformation

When Rania, now a young woman, was only a child, her father left, married another woman and traveled abroad. One summer, Rania attended the annual conference we hold for members of our young women discipleship groups. In that conference, she changed – she decided to work on herself, serve the Lord and go back to school.

Rania did go back to school and obtained her secondary school certificate. There was no girls’ discipleship group in her local church, so she started one and has been leading it since.

Rania used to depend on others to get things done, but now she has become a responsible person; both her family and church family know they can rely on her.

Rania, who had previously hated her father and had bitterness towards him, was able to forgive him. She initiated and maintains contact with him.

Reflecting on this transformation, Rania said, “[AWEMA’s] girls ministry changed my life dramatically. In the first conference I attended with them, I met with the Lord and I understood His fatherhood, which was a difficult concept for me because of my father who left us when we were just kids. But in that conference I sought God’s forgiveness and decided to forgive others as well.”  She also shared, “I have zeal to do all I can to help other girls know the Lord and change.”
