Our Leadership
Founding General Director
F. has a BA in Biochemistry and did theological, leadership and discipleship studies. Before God called him into fulltime ministry, he worked as a researcher. In 1967, F. started to lead evangelistic outreach teams of young adults to underprivileged areas. He was the first to start campus ministry in his country. He was also the first both to form a praise team that would do evangelistic outreach ministry and to start organized discipleship groups’ ministry at local churches. F. worked with Campus Crusade for Christ (Cru) for ten years. His vision for a ministry reaching the entire Arab World began in 1978 and came to fruition in 1985. His passion is to see churches become stronger and their mission expand, and he appreciates leading a “devoted and faithful” team towards that end. F. has been married to his wife for over 45 years. They have two adult children and five grandchildren. F.’s favorite Bible passage is Philippians 4:4-7. His interests are reading, sports and listening to music. People are usually surprised by how passionately he hates seafood!
Deputy to the General Director
Director, Training and Theological Education
Director, Refugees Ministry
When S. was a Law undergrad, he was involved in ministry with the Campus Crusade for Christ (Cru). He then joined the Bible Society where he started and directed the outreach ministry to religious celebrations, leading a team who did outreach in 22 annual religious celebrations. His great burden for missions and the unreached led him to join AWEMA in 2000 as a missionary. S. planted a church which planted another church. In 2003, he helped start AWEMA’s Theological Studies School. His passion is to help believers, both locals and refugees, have a vision for ministry and to equip them through sound Biblical teaching and ministry training. Apart from AWEMA, S. was the leader of the university students meeting at his local church for ten years, and has been a member on the nationwide committee of Evangelical high school youth ministry. S. lives with his wife and two daughters. He enjoys reading, traveling, going to the beach and eating seafood. His favorite Scripture is Psalm 103:1-2.
E. obtained a BA in Commerce, did a Mini MBA and had his own business. But when God called him into fulltime ministry in 2013, he left his business and joined AWEMA. Before joining AWEMA, E. volunteered in local outreach, youth ministry and discipleship ministry, which he continues to do until today. E.’s passion is to see people saved, discipled and equipped for ministry. He oversees a team of field workers whom he describes as “faithful in serving the Lord.” E. and his wife have been married for nearly two decades and together they have two teenage children. He enjoys reading, loves serving others, and his favorite Bible verse is 2 Timothy 1:7.
W. has two Bachelor degrees: One in Accounting and another in Psychotherapy, and she is currently studying for a Master of Arts in Theology. Before joining AWEMA in 2018, and for 15 years, she ran a daycare center, which became the biggest, most-known daycare in that city district. For 15 years, she was one of the leaders of young adults ministry at her local church, leading small groups and mentoring young women who later became leaders of other ministries at church. W.’s passion is to equip women for ministry by helping them grasp their worth in Christ, become emotionally healthy and spiritually mature, and have a strong Biblical and theological foundation. To do that, she has a team of four field workers, who are “burdened with ministry and doing their very best”, and a few volunteers and ministry partners. W. has been married for over 20 years. In 2013, she and her husband started, and have since been leading, a team of volunteers who do mercy ministry. Abraham is W.’s favorite Biblical character as he challenges her to obey God even when she can’t see the whole picture. W.’s favorite food is lasagna. In addition to cooking, she enjoys going to the beach, listening to music and reading fiction books.
G.
G. obtained a BA in Law and worked as a lawyer for several years before changing his career path to social work nonprofits. He was the director of a Christian nonprofit serving people with disabilities for six years, and was a youth ministry leader at his church for five years. G.’s passion to serve God through serving people led him to join AWEMA in 2012. His purpose is for people to see Jesus’ love through AWEMA’s ministry. His team comprises of several full-timers and volunteers “whose purpose is to resemble Jesus.” G. lives with his wife and their college student daughter. His favorite dish is koshary and he enjoys traveling and playing soccer. He admires the Apostle Paul for his wisdom and courage. G.’s favorite Bible verse is 2 Timothy 2:7.
Statement of Faith
We believe
- That the Bible, both the Old and New Testaments, all sixty-six books, is the inspired Word of God by the Holy Spirit. All of the Bible is infallible and is the final authority for faith and conduct.
- In one God. He is the eternal God who is the Creator and Preserver of the universe. We believe God manifests in the Holy Trinity: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
- That Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God, and the eternal Word incarnated by the Holy Spirit through the Virgin Mary; and that by His incarnation, He became like us in everything, except that He did not sin. He died on the cross for our redemption; He was buried, and raised on the third day, ascended into heaven and sat down at the right hand of the Father. He reigns as King and Intercessor for us.
- That the Holy Spirit is the life-giving Spirit of God, who inspired the prophets and apostles in writing the Bible. He reproves the people of the world of sin and gives them spiritual birth. The Holy Spirit guides the Church in all the truth and glorifies Jesus Christ.
- That man, a creature already created in the image of God, has fallen. By his spiritual death, man lives in a spiritual state of sin and separation from God. We also believe that man is totally unable to redeem himself.
- That man is to be saved by God’s free gift on the basis of Christ’s redemptive work on the cross and His resurrection on the third day. That man receives such salvation by professing sin, repentance, seeking forgiveness and believing in Jesus Christ atonement, as well as man’s call for Jesus Christ to reign over his life. Thus, the Holy Spirit gives this person the new birth.
- That the Church is one collective Body of Christ.
- That we should seek the extension of the Kingdom of God. Thus, we obey Christ’s great commission: “Go ye into the entire world, and preach the Gospel to every creature.”
- That Christ will come again and the dead, both righteous and wicked, will be resurrected and finally judged; the righteous to eternal life, and the wicked to eternal torment.
