Liberty to the Captives

In one of AWEMA’s church planting areas in the Horn of Africa, Hawa, a young woman, was tormented by an evil spirit. She would leave her house, tear off her clothes, stay in the streets, and refuse to go home. After a while, her sister, Halimo, also started to experience similar attacks.

Desperate, the sisters’ mother, Faduma, took them to her sister in another town. The aunt took Hawa and Halimo to witch doctors and religious leaders, but they couldn’t help the two sisters. When the girls’ aunt could no longer care for them, they were brought back to their parents’ home, restrained with chains.

In the meantime, Faduma heard the gospel. She then took her daughters to church, where AWEMA team prayed for them, and they were delivered from their suffering. Now living normal lives, they started looking for jobs.

When Faduma’s relatives and neighbors ask her how her daughters were healed, she tells them, “They were prayed for in the name of Jesus.”

AWEMA worker has been teaching and discipling all three women. Faduma shares, “I learned that Jesus is the only way to heaven. After I put my faith in Him, I became so happy, and every fear left me.”
